For my mom

Here's a little something that I wrote and gave to my mom today. I wanted to share it with you because I'm sure that many of you can say these same things about your own moms. I hope someday my children can say them about me.

When God made the little girl he said,
“This child is going to need a good mom…a really, great mom.”

So, he gave her a mom that taught her to love herself and to trust in the Lord.
She taught her to be respectful of others.
She learned that giving is always better than taking.
She learned that sacrificing for your family is a sacrifice worth making.
Her mother taught her that it’s okay to make a mistake, but to learn from it.
She taught her to be independent, but that it’s okay to need someone.
She taught her the importance of prayer.
The little girl learned to follow her heart, and good things will come.
The mother taught her discipline.
She learned to have patience, especially with the ones she loved.
She learned to have her own opinion and to speak her mind.
She learned that it’s okay to be angry and hurt.
She learned to forgive.
Her mother taught her that children are a gift from God…
one to be cherished forever.
Her mother taught her to nurture, to give affection, to be kind,
To be a good-hearted person, to help those in need, to be patient,
To love fully and unconditionally, and to receive love with an open heart.
She taught her to be a good wife.
Most of all she showed the little girl what it meant to have a really great mom.

That little girl was me. And God chose YOU.

We love you mom, for all of these reasons, and more.

Happy Mother’s Day!
