Okay, we'll start with yesterday...
I got off work early, around lunchtime, after the boss (Nikki) wasn't feeling very well...so we rescheduled all of her appointments from yesterday afternoon for today (normally we don't work Thursdays). When I got home I went to work cleaning...like, moved all the furniture in every room cleaning, and it felt great! I have to say, it's nice only working a few hours in the morning and having the whole afternoon and evening off! I could get used to it! ;)
Well, this morning, Nikki called to say that she still wasn't feeling well and it turns out she has an infection that was going to keep her in bed for a few days. I already had my cleaning done, which is what I normally do on Thursdays, so what was I going to do?? It was pouring rain, so anything outside was out. Hmm...Well, first things first. Peter came over this morning while Jay went to pick up their friends at the airport and Cheri was at the nursing home seeing patients. After we dropped him off at preschool, I decided Taylor and I should go have lunch somewhere. Taylor has yet to go to McDonald's, or really any fast food places, but I was craving a McDonald's cheeseburger (don't ask me why, I just do sometimes!) so that's where we headed. When we got there, there were about 15 cars in the drive-thru and I really didn't want to go in, so we sadly drove away...and went to Dairy Queen! Taylor had grilled cheese, applesauce and milk, and I had chicken strips, fries and water! And would you believe that after we had lunch, we left without even getting ice cream?? That's right...me, at Dairy Queen, no ice cream. I'm still shocked myself!! Still, DQ didn't satisfy this urge that I felt to do something, anything...so we went to the one place that you'll never guess that I would go! Wal-Mart. I know, I know...gross! But really, it was that or Sunbirds...and I just wasn't in the mood to look at Carhartt's and hunting gear :) (and we had a gift card from Taylor's birthday, so why not use it? It's not my money they're getting) So Taylor and I wandered around Wal-Mart...up and down the Christmas decor aisles and the beauty section, making sure to be on constant look-out for anyone that I might know so I could duck into the nearest clothes rounder and hide until they passed. Luckily, we didn't see anyone. So as we were walking by the toys there was an end display of the cutest little talking Elmo (about 45 of them) all with tags hanging from them saying "TRY ME!" Well, I did. Whoever thought of this "Try me" concept should get a raise. If you would've seen the look on Taylor's face when Elmo looked at her with his big, white eyes and goofy grin and said "Elmo loves to give kisses...muah!" you would've bought it too! Her little face lit up like a Christmas tree! I let her hold him and she hugged him so tight, then looked at him, kissed his face, and hugged him again. How could I not buy him?!?!?! Seriously, that guy needs a raise. Genius. So after we spent twice as much as the gift card amount, we both came home happy. Now Elmo is in the middle of the kitchen floor, alone and forgotten after 15 minutes...go figure.
Tomorrow...I think I might head out to the Lake Lawrence Holiday Bazaar. Jessica's going to be there with some of her brother's and dad's glass items and they have a lot of other booths too, so it should be fun!
Nikki, I'm kinda diggin' this extra long weekend...not that I would ever want you to be sick, but it is kinda nice for me! Hope you're feeling much better and I'll call ya in a bit :) XOXO
