Yep...the girl's got it. After having a fever for several days, then finding out on Friday that she had a double ear infection, we started Amoxicillin on Saturday. On Easter, Cheri looked in her ears, and listened to her chest and thought we'd better bring her in the next morning for a chest x-ray. In her words..."her lungs sound like a little train engine in there." So Monday morning we were at her office at 9am for a chest x-ray, and by 11:30am we were finally leaving after a full blood work-up (which means they took blood from her arm like a big girl), an injection of a super antibiotic for her ears that were looking worse even after the Amoxicillin, an episode of holding her breath and passing out after the nurse gave her the injection, and a nebulizer treatment with Albuterol. We went straight home, had some lunch, Taylor took a nap, and then it was back in the truck to head to Olympia where we stopped at St. Peter's Hospital to get an RSV swab, and Lincare to pick up our own personal nebulizer. After all that, we still had to go to the pharmacy and get our prescription filled for the Albuterol that goes in the nebulizer so, after dinner, we went to Safeway, grabbed the Albuterol, and a few quick things (ice cream for me, since Lent's finally over...yay!!) and we were finally on our way home to stay! For being such a little sickie, Taylor sure was a trooper all day :) Needless to say, I've been home from work all week taking care of my babe. Today is the first day that she's starting to act more like herself...her appetite's finally back and she's been playing really well.
Yesterday she had another doctor's appointment...it was supposed to be her 18 month "well child" visit, but she obviously wasn't well! She weighed 22lbs (23lbs on Monday) which is in the 25%, and was 32 inches tall, 75%! I do think she's probably lost a few pounds over the last week though, since she hasn't been eating much at all, so who knows how much she would actually weigh right now had she not gotten sick. Her ears were still red, but her congestion sounded better...we're still doing the nebulizer treatments though, and hopefully today or tomorrow will be the last day of that.
Although it's been a long week, it's been so nice to be home taking care of my little girl. Even when she's sick and snotty, crabby and cranky, I wouldn't trade her for the world! A huge Thank You to everyone for their prayers and well wishes...I just know God was listening :)
