Just about perfect.

*sigh*
We just got home from a weekend that we've been looking forward to for quite some time...and I promise you, it did not disappoint.
In fact, it was just about perfect.
The weather was just right. Not too hot, not too chilly. Just the right temperature for strolling the city streets (we walked at least 3 miles), sipping coffee while overlooking the water, and sharing appetizers and beer on the Pyramid deck.
Here are a few little things that spruced up our hotel room...you can't see the candles or champagne, but they were there, too. :)
To celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, we treated ourselves to a fabulous dinner at The Metropolitan Grill. Seriously delicious.

And wouldn't ya know it...we ran into the Green Bay Packers' wide receivers (minus Donald Driver) while we were there! Matt was like a little kid when he saw them. He came back from the restroom and his eyes were as big as saucers! He told me where they were sitting, and I went to the bathroom to check it out for myself. I decided that I couldn't leave without asking for a picture for my husband. I reeeally didn't want to be that person that bothers them during dinner, but these were Green Bay Packers and really, what did I have to lose?! So, after a little pep talk to myself in the bathroom mirror, I casually walked up to their table, apologized for interrupting them(they didn't have their food yet), told them my husband was from the Green Bay area, was a huge Packer fan and would s*&! his pants if he knew I was talking to them right now, and asked if they'd be so kind as to take a picture with him. They were so nice! They gave me a little bit of a hard time at first, pretending like they weren't who I thought they were, but then laughed, introduced themselves, and said they wouldn't mind at all. I was literally shaking when I went back to the table to tell Matt the good news! It's all we talked about for the rest of our dinner...over and over telling what they said and what I said.
It was pretty neat...really.
These guys are like football Gods to my husband, and to see the look on his face when we walked up to that table to meet them was something I'll never forget. It makes me a little bit teary just thinking about how excited and proud he must've been. And the fact that they were all so gracious and welcoming just proved to him again that his love for these players and his team is justified.

Saturday was game day!
We weren't sure how we'd be able to top our evening rubbing elbows with the Packers, but somehow we managed!
We were staying at The Silver Cloud Inn right next to the stadium, so we didn't tailgate, but we spent most of our afternoon at The Famous Triangle Bar. We made friends with the bartender Casey (she was super sweet and cute), mingled with Hawks and Packer fans, and had a little too much to drink. Okay, I had a little too much to drink...but I sure did have myself some fun!!
After the game, we stopped and got a hot dog from the last vendor that was open, and the crowd was pretty much gone. We were slowly making our way around the outside of the hotel, heading for the front door, when we saw some seriously sweet cars pull out of the stadium garage. Players!!! They stopped on the street right next to us and waited for the light to change. Matt looked at me and said "that's Matt Hasselbeck in that Infiniti Q35 right there." I said "No it's not...no way." I look over and sure enough, it was Matt Hasselbeck!!! No tinted windows, and with his dome light on I could see him plain as day...he was right there!! He looked up and I waved to him...he smiled...and waved back! :)
I'm telling you, it was a really good weekend for us Grube football fans!
And then this morning...
we were certainly glad to see this little munchkin!
As soon as we pulled into my parent's driveway, she came running as fast as she could towards us, arms wide open, smiling as big as could be, yelling "My mommy and daddy! My mommy and daddy!!"
She hugged Matt for atleast a good 2 minutes before she even let me say hi to her...she definitely missed him a lot this week. :)

On tomorrow's agenda...
laundry, putting beds back together, vacuuming and getting back to normal everyday life. And what a beautiful and blessed life it is! ♥
