It's not that nothing's going on...

...it's just that I don't have the time {or the urge} to blog about everything this is going on!  I swear, it seems like I'm going, going, going from the second I wake up to the second my head hits the pillow...and the last thing on my list is to take time for a blog post.  I'm not getting enough sleep, I'm not eating right, and  my body is paying the price.
'Tis the season! :)

Anyway, I'll try to get a little caught up here...quite a bit has happened since I was last here!
First, was our big adventure over to the Apple Cup in Pullman!
We were so excited to hit the road and head over to spend the weekend with my cousins and cheer on the Cougs!  Well, we made it as far as Nisqually {about 20 mins from our house} before a crazy, drunk driver put a big damper on our weekend plans.  Before we knew it, we were swerving all over the road to avoid her {she was in our lane, and all over the road...it was pretty much like she was aiming for us...whichever way Matt swerved, she swerved that way too.} and we ended up in the ditch on the side of the road.  Thank God nobody got hurt.  The Tahoe has a few bumps and bruises, but all of us, for the most part, were fine {this is where my aching body comes in}...aside from being very shaken, and very humbled.
It could have been so much worse...and I don't even want to think about that.
After waiting an hour for the police to show up, another hour for the tow truck to show up, and another hour filling out paperwork and identifying the worthless piece of crap that laughed and stuck her tongue out at Matt when he confronted her while in the back of the police car {she was going to jail on an outstanding warrant from the US Marshalls...24 years old, and a real pillar of society, obviously.}...we were finally on our way!  Yes, that's right.  We hopped back in our trusty Tahoe and headed over the pass to Pullman.  Not much can stop us from a good football game! ;)
We stayed at my cousin Ashley and her family's house {hubby, Bob and baby girl, Claire} and had a lot fun catching up with them.  The little girls had a good time playing and getting to know each other, too!
We took a quick tour of the campus, had Cougar Country burgers, pre-funked at the Field House and watched about 1/10 of the game. {Remind me not to take my 3 year old to a football game in freezing cold weather after not getting a nap ever again. :)}
Next up...last week was my Monday to watch the kids!
We made and decorated sugar cookies...it was fun, but it sure was messy.
In fact, I'm still finding sprinkles...and that was a week ago.
True story.

The rest of the week was spent shopping, running errands, visiting the library, making more cookies, etc.  Friday night I did a Scentsy party...yay!  So fun!  I'm really loving this new adventure and I'm finding that it's easier than I even thought it was going to be.  And I'm not as nervous about the parties as I thought I would be, either.  I'm quite proud of myself, actually. :)
Saturday was a great day!
First was our little friend Jacob's 3rd birthday party.
We haven't seen Jacob for almost a year and a half...he's been living in Hungary and traveling Europe with his mom, dad and new baby brother...so we were all really excited to see him and the rest of the family!
Jake had a Mickey Mouse party and even had a guest appearance by Mickey himself!  Lucky boy! :)
Taylor was so happy to see Jake, but didn't know her BFF Avery would be there, too...that just totally made her day!

We all loved on little Carson a bit...he's so sweet, how could we not?!

Some of the brave kids even got their pictures taken with Mickey! {Taylor did not.} :)

We headed home from the party and just as we pulled in the driveway, Taylor's babysitter MiAna pulled in, too!  Matt and I were off on a date night...dinner and a little Christmas shopping for our girl.
It was exactly what we needed.  Beyond perfect.
I just love getting to spend quality, alone time with that man. ♥

Sunday was the Peterson family Christmas party!
This year it was a little different celebrating Christmas with my dad's side of the family.
My dad was missing.
He hasn't been feeling very well at all, and just wasn't up for a big family gathering.
It just didn't seem right leaving him home alone, but of course he wouldn't have it any other way.
We stopped to pick my mom up at their house and when Taylor realized Papa wasn't coming with us, she got really upset. :(  She wanted to kiss his tummy and make him feel better so he would come with us.  Then she didn't want to go to the party at all...she wanted to stay there with him.
I sure wish I could help her understand why her Papa isn't himself these days.
She has the sweetest little heart, that girl.
And one of the sweetest spots is for her Papa.
Tonight as we were saying her prayers, we prayed for his healing and for strength during his treatment and recovery...and then she said to me "Mommy, I love my Papa.  He's my best friend."  I replied "I know you do, and he loves you sooo much, too...you're his buddy, aren't ya?!"  She said "yah, him loves me a lot."  She gave me a sweet smile, turned over and snuggled up under her blankies.
My heart seriously melted.
It ached, actually.  Probably one of the sweetest things I've ever heard.
Please keep my dad in your prayers.  He has a long road of treatment and recovery ahead of him, and this is just the beginning.  I pray it only gets easier from here.

What's next on my agenda, you ask??
Chemo with my dad tomorrow;
cleaning my desperately-in-need-of-cleaning house on Wednesday {remember the week-old sprinkes?}, and probably making some more cookies, too;
'Tangled' with Taylor and a Scentsy party on Thursday;
and Friday and Saturday will be spent getting ready for a house full of around 50 people for Christmas dinner on Sunday!  I really can't wait for that! :)
Throw in a few chiro appointments and hopefully a massage for my aching body, and I've got myself another busy week.
Really, I wouldn't want it any other way! :)
Stay tuned for pics from the Wagner family Christmas bash...coming soon!

Awe... i loved the taylor/grandpa story... made me tear up too and even at 17 and 19 both my kids feel the same way about Grandpa. He is truly such a GREAT grandfather and also just a good buddy!! It hurts all of us to watch him suffer and hurt...
Lots of prayers are coming your way for your dad Cara and for you also! Hang in there! Also be thankful that you are not working and can be there for him... I am so jealous of that!!!
