My Grown-Up Christmas List

Dear Santa,

This probably isn't the kind of letter you're used to getting, and I know it's been a really long time since you've heard from me.  But...there are so many things I am wishing for right now, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I know you're the kind of guy who likes to make wishes come true. Well, I'm wishing big this year, Santa!

1. I want my dad to get better.  I want him to be himself again, and to live life again.  I want him to kick this cancer's butt, and never have to fight it again.  If you can make that happen, Santa, there's no need to read the rest of this letter.  Nothing else matters as much to me as my dad being healthy again.

2. A baby.  Yes, this was on my list last year, too...I know.  But, I've been extra good this year.  And it's on Matt's list, too.  And Taylor's.  We've all been really good.  I hope you reconsider this one, Santa...

3. Snow!  I want more snow!  This one should be easy for you, right?!

4. Winning lottery numbers would be nice.

5. I'd really like to give my friends and family who have experienced such great loss this year some peace and comfort.  You know who they are, Santa.  Please, please be extra kind to them this year.  A little hope for brighter days ahead would be a great gift to them.

6. A Keurig single-cup coffee maker, please.

7. A fabulously, sunny Summer next year!  Pretty, please?!  With cookies and carrots for your reindeer on top?! :)

8. More time with family.  All of them.  Grandmas, aunts, uncles, cousins...near and far.  Especially the far-away ones.  We really miss them, Santa.

9. A tropical vacation...or maybe a cruise.  I'd be more than pleased with Disneyland even.  Anywhere sunny and fun.

10. Most of all, I wish for all of my family and friends to be healthy, happy, peaceful and spending time with their loved ones at Christmas and throughout the new year.

{Oh, and a big win for the Wisconsin Badgers at the Rose Bowl would be great, too.}

Thanks, Santa.  I know...it's a big list, right?!  Well, a few of these things are much more important than others, and you know the wishes that are dearest to my heart.
