Gettin' better...finally!

Wow.  January's been rough.
It seems like it flew right by while I was half asleep on the couch.

A couple weeks ago I came down with Influenza B, and let me tell you, if you've never had the true flu, be thankful!  It was absolutely awful.  Add in the fact that I'm 19 weeks pregnant and it was a recipe for disaster.  I ended up in the ER needing IV fluids for dehydration, a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, a nasal swab to test for the flu, a CBC and urinalysis to rule out kidney/urinary tract infections, and Vicodin for horrible back pain and muscle spasms.  It was a long night.  On top of that, this all happened while we had our big winter storm.  So Matt and I drove home from the ER on icy, snowy, half-plowed roads, through forests of trees that looked like they were going to fall on us at any moment...and of course, the next morning, the power was out.  Like, out for 4 days.  So, not only did I feel like I was dying, but I didn't get to lay on my own couch, sleep in my own bed, or puke in my own toilet.
And then Taylor got sick.
Thankfully she got away with just a high fever that we managed with Tylenol and Ibuprofen.  She didn't have any other symptoms other than a little cough here and there, but with the snow/ice storm and her 6 days of fever, she ended up missing 2 whole weeks of preschool.  And I assure you, she was NOT happy about it.
We watched a lot of cartoons, took lots of naps, used tons of Lysol and washed our hands a million times a day.
I have never been so sick for so long.
I kept waking up everyday thinking I was going to feel better, and I wouldn't.
It sucked.
But...I'm happy to report that we are now finally feeling back to normal!
I'm just really hoping we paid our sick dues for this year...

Next up is the big ultrasound!
Seriously. I can't. wait.
February 9th cannot come fast enough.

In other big news, Matt just committed to a new job with a new company...and we are SO excited about it!
They're in Wisconsin, which means he {and we!} will be able to spend a lot more time with family and friends there.
He'll be working from home {here, in Washington!} which means we'll see a lot more of him every day.
And he'll be making more money with the potential to make a substantial amount more in the future.
It's pretty much the perfect solution for our family.
I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to travel more, to see family more, and to spend more time together as a family.
And when baby comes...how nice will it be to have Daddy home everyday?! :)

Unfortunately this means that he'll be leaving to head back to the Mid-West at the end of this week, and won't be back until mid-February.  Yep, he's gonna miss the big ultrasound.  But we decided to keep the appointment anyway.  He wants to know just as bad as I do what this little baby's gender is, so we really don't want to put it off any longer.  And my sister just happens to be off work on Thursdays, so she's happily agreed to join me in his place! :)

We've celebrated several family birthdays in the last month...
My mom turned 60!

My brother turned 40!
My grandma turned 86!
And, tomorrow my dad turns 61!
Whew...that's a lot of cake! :)

Well, this was kind of a random post, but I just couldn't stand it that I hadn't posted in over 3 weeks.  Shameful, I know!

Hope you're all enjoying our lovely winter!
Stay warm.♥
