Relief...for all of us...

So back to the dog.

After an evening of being totally pathetic, we thought for sure Lambeau would be at Dr. Brown's office today. He was completely uninterested in food (so not like our dogs!) and would do nothing but lay around and very dramatically sigh and adjust every couple minutes. We knew he was uncomfortable. However, he was still drinking water and keeping it down, so that was a sign of encouragement (last time he got very dehydrated).Anyway, we didn't hear anything all night, which was good and bad. Good that he wasn't vomiting or needing to go out, but bad cuz I kept waking up thinking "I haven't heard anything from their room...is he still alive and breathing??" He was okay this morning when Matt left for work, so I got a few more hours of sleep. I got up about 8am and let them out to potty. He had perked up a lot, but I wasn't going to get my hopes up. He went potty, and then got a drink. I asked him if he was hungry and he ran up to the porch...Hmmm, this is a good sign. So I gave him a half of a biscuit just to see what he would do, and he scarfed it right down. I didn't want to push it, so that's all he got, and I stayed outside awhile to see if he was going to keep it down. Well, I followed him around for awhile, he seemed to want to play but wasn't too sure. He was carrying his ball around in his mouth, but didn't want to do anything more than that with it. He kinda seemed like he wasn't sure what to do with himself. He eventually made his way back behind the house under a big tree...and...squatted. Uh-oh...this will be the tell-tale sign. I remember watching him try to go so many times before, but nothing coming out (uh, there's a rock stuck in there, remember?!). Well, this time, something did come out! I walked over to check it out and low and behold, there was a nice little poop-covered rock sitting there in the middle of the pile. Bad Dog!! I mean, Good Dog!! Then it was literally like he flipped a switch and became a new dog. Now, he's outside running around, wrestling with Lola without a care in the world. The bad part? He has no idea why he felt so bad...and he won't know not to do it again. So, now the gate to the back yard is closed...off limits (that's where he was digging) and when we're gone, it's back in the kennel. Sorry Lambeau...no more freedom for you buddy. You got lucky this time. And there better not be a next time!

Total lockdown! That's the only thing I know to do to prevent digging, etc. Unfortunately its a pain to do that all the time....esp. when I'm running late. I didn't get my dogs in the kennel (I'm at dad's now) and I will probably have some nice new holes to China when I get home....with the tell-tale sign of dirty nose. I'm glad Mr. Lambeau was able to eliminate the rock on his own! So much easier. Well, fingers crossed for the future! Just a little heads up....they get naughtier when the baby comes! :)

I'm so sorry you had to investigate dog poop while being 35 weeks pregnant... how horrible. Glad he's feeling better. Holly digs like the rest of them, but so far hasn't included rocks as a favorite in her pallate! Poop, though! We had to rid her of eating her own poop! That sure was fun...

Did you hear that Tiff?! They get worse when the baby comes! Isn't that just great Ü I've actually been a little worried about that because they already get jealous between the two of them when it comes to our attention...and with a new baby AND a new house/environment, who knows what they'll do! More to look forward to... Ü

Oh...I almost forgot! I will have to lend you our CD called "Preparing Fido". I don't know how much it "prepared" the dogs, but they seemed to do pretty well when Grayson first arrived. Anyway, its a CD with baby cries and other sounds. Its actually pretty humorous to see the dogs try to go find out what is making all that noise. I would just play it the last month or 2 daily. Anyway....I have it for you and Tiffany if you guys would like to borrow it!

Just try not to be too in love with your backyard grass right away. Holly dug a hole to china when I babysat Norah a few weeks ago. Seriously, I thought that Chinese people were going to start crawling through it...

And yes, I'd love the CD! Thanks Jess!

Jessica - anything that might help ease the transition is worth a try! The other night I had one of her musical toys sitting on my tummy for her to listen to, and Lambeau almost lost his mind! It really made me afraid for her sweet little toys and stuffed animals...if he got ahold of them, they don't stand a chance! Anyway, I'll have to get that CD from you soon...only a month to go!
